From any two you can compute any third one.

Ideal Gas Law

• Pressure, Volume, and Temp are variable
• Compressibility factor: $Z=v\frac{PW}{RT}$ where
  • $v$ is specific volume
  • $P$ is pressure
  • $W$ is molecular weight
  • $R$ is gas constant
  • $T$ is temperature
• $Z=1$: ideal gas (low density, high specific volume)
• $PV=nRT$

van der Waals

• Quadratic
• Recover ideal gas law
  • $a=b=0$
  • $\frac{V}{n}\to \mathrm{\infty }$]
• $P=\frac{RT}{\frac{V}{n}-b}-\frac{a{n}^2}{V^2}$
• $(P+\frac{a{n}^2}{V^2})(V-nb)=nRT$
